Meeting of the Minds

A week ago on Saturday I woke up early to row.  Chad brought the boys down for the first time to see us on the water.  This was my first time to row bow in a quad boat and my emotions were sky-high, but I really liked having the boys watch us come in.

Riley's Museum School class was called Hisser and Croakers and on his last day of class we saw a frog in Nana's backyard.  Actually, Riley would correct you and tell you it is a toad.

All the boys had a great time examing the toad as he tried to hide!

After the toad discovery we went to dinner and Carter started peeling all the wrappers off of his crayons.  He was very focused and couldn't be bothered about anything.  He even took his unwrapped crayons with him in the car so he could unwrap them while we drove home.

Carter had also started stuttering over the past two weeks and Nana & I both noticed.  Luckily, a little research told us that it is not unusual for kids his age to stutter, and he should grow out of it, but it sure does make me worry!!
I don't remember Katharina taking this picture, but there aren't usually a lot of photos of me on here, so I decided to include it!
Saturday night Chad, Katharina and I went to Billy Bob's for a concert featuring the 90s bands Marcy Playground, Lit, Gin Blossoms, Sugar Ray and Everclear.  It was so much fun!

On Sunday Chad and Katharina had to be at KWC for July Camp Orientation so the boys went swimming in the backyard.  It was hot so we didn't stay out very long.

Riley was very disturbed by the grass that was in the pool water, so the boys tried to scoop some of it out.

On Monday night we had the Loveladys over for dinner.  They brought dessert and Liz picked out Under The Sea cupcakes, which had awesome blue icing.

Thursday night was Boys Night, but Katharina was an honorary member.  They met the Loveladys at Chick Fil A and played before heading to Braums for dessert.

The boys have been continuing to have a blast playing with Katharina and Carter "made popcorn" for her the other night.  He sat on it to pop it and everything!

On Friday morning Blake & Wyatt met us at Bluebonnet because Chad was babysitting Wyatt for the day.  We have now turned everyone onto their Apple Fritters.  So GOOD!

Riley had a hard time at his swim lessons this week and Nana and his swim teacher decided he needed extra lessons this coming week.  Hopefully they will help him feel more confident because he is having a lot of troubles.  The boys did have a really fun week with Nana and they went to the zoo on Monday and enjoyed using their member cards to go to the zoo an hour earlier than it opened to the public.

They also learned that they can double swing in Nana's backyard!

This weekend was especially fun as our friend David flew in from Florida to visit us for the weekend.  On Saturday morning he presented the boys with a plane toy and they had fun assembling it and putting stickers on it and making it fly.

Yesterday we went to NRH2O and had a great time swimming before coming home for dinner.  This morning, David, Katharina and I got up early to go rowing together.  They had never been, so one of my instructors met us and helped introduce them to the sport.  They did really great and it was really fun to do this with them!

After rowing we were ravenous so we cleaned up and went to Lucile's for brunch.  Riley was super proud of his menu art.  Unfortunately I took David back to the airport after brunch, but we were all so happy he came to visit and can't wait for the next time we get to see him!
