Future Firefighters

It's frustrating when Blogger decides what way my pictures should rotate and they are wrong.  I can't get these art pictures to turn the right way, but oh well.

The green shows "cold" and the red/yellow is "hot"

I asked Riley if these were trufulla trees (from The Lorax) and he told me no, they are flowers.

Riley came home Friday saying that is homework was to cheer for UT.  On Monday this art work came home.  Someone at that school is sure promoting those Longhorns.  Too bad they lost on Saturday!
On Saturday morning Zuilma came over and took family photos.  It's been just over a year since we last did a shoot with her.  She does such an amazing job.  She really understands light and color, is great with the kids and always gets some amazing shots.  Here are the 3 sneak peeks we have seen so far:

After the photo shoot, we changed and got in the car to drive to Dallas.  We met up with my friend Kelly from work and her two daughters at the Twisted Root Burger Co., for some lunch and then we all went to Kelly's husband Scott's fire station in Dallas for a tour.

These two girls shared their Daddy with us for a Saturday afternoon and we really appreciate it!
The tour was awesome.  The kids got to climb all over the fire trucks.

Riley really enjoyed walking across the big ladder on top of the truck.

After walking around on the trucks, Scott took us on a short drive in the fire truck.  He even turned on the sirens a few times!

After our ride, the kids got to shoot water out of the fire hose!

Riley was a pro!

Then we toured the bunks and Chad slide down the fire pole.

The kids wanted to act like they slid down the poles too.

Before we left we went outside and played on the rope swings.  Riley had a great time playing with the girls.

Thanks to Kelly and her family for the fun afternoon!

On Sunday, Riley asked to go to Lucile's for brunch, so we did.  Carter ended up dropping our ketchup bottle on the floor and it shattered!  Smelled a bit like McDonald's at our table for a bit.

We are trying everything we can think of to keep Carter asleep at night.  This week he had two nights where he was up from about 2:30am-5:30am.  The second night he made this little creation in Riley's room at about 3:30am.  That's a whole box of Kleenex in case you couldn't tell.  With Riley's treasure chest in the center. ????!!!!  Sleep child, sleep!

We got out the Pack N Play  this week and set it up in his room and told him that if he got out of his big boy bed he'd have to sleep in the baby bed.  That sort of worked......We finally ended up turning out the lights in the living room that we usually leave on at night and that night he slept the whole night.  Maybe sweet boy just likes it dark....

Riley's been doing Learning Garden at school and this week they got to plant things in the new planters.  So many kids signed up for Learning Garden that instead of keeping them all together, they are splitting it up so each kid will only go to Learning Garden once a month.
