The Ice Mammoth

I've been volunteering at the Lily B library once per month with the PreK class.  Since I'm unable to have lunch with Carter as much since he has such an early lunch time, I thought this would be a good way to get to see him at school.  He is so happy when he sees me and it's a nice way to spend my lunch hour once a month.  Can you see his smile in the below photo?

In mid-January we went on a double date with Kate & Jason to celebrate Chad & Jason's birthdays (which are 3 days apart from each other).  Kate surprised the boys with rollerblades!

Riley has been working so hard at school and with his tutor and I'm really proud of him for trying so hard.  This school year has not been an easy one for him or for us.  I am blown away by his artistic abilities.  He drew the below scorpion and he likes t draw in his journal at home and has some really great drawings.  He also got a speaking part in his 2nd Grade program and I can't wait to see it.

We had our first Parent/Teacher conference with Carter's teacher last month and while she said he has quite a stubborn streak, he is doing well in PreK.  One thing we have to work on is letting him try and spell words on his own, but as you can see below he wants to spell super hard words like Hippopotamus, and he's quite a perfectionist (wonder where he got that from....me....) so he wants to get it right and perfect any time he does schoolwork.

We had an impromptu Happy Hour at the Loveladys a few weeks ago and all the kids were lined up watching Barbie!  Who new Barnie would be so riveting!!

Our friend Zuilma took some photos for us back in December and I finally got around to printing up some shots for the house.  Here are a few of my favorites.

Chad and Jason spent a day together hanging out and we all got this funny Transformer photo from Chad.  He's so cute!

Carter has attended a couple of birthday parties lately and had enjoyed seeing his school friends outside of school.

We finally have a working fireplace!!  It only took almost 2 months and many trips from the chimney guy, but it's finally working.  Thank goodness!

Chad is very excited because he likes to sit at the desk next to the fireplace a lot and it's right by the window so it gets cold.

Last weekend was the Cub Scout Pinewood Derby.  Riley's car "The Ice Mammoth" didn't win any races (2nd place in two races and last place in 2 races) but he did get a certificate for Funniest Car and he was pleased about that.

Blake turned 29 last week and on Saturday we went bowling for his birthday.  It was the first time for Riley & Carter to go bowling and they had a BLAST!

Carter liked to make sure all of the bowling balls were in order.
