I'm Picturing It In My Head

I realized this week that Chad's phone is a wealth of blog photos waiting to happen.  Case in point, the below Garage Sale photos of the kiddos selling drinks.  Who could say no to them?

Also, Chad & Riley spent an evening on the porch where Chad showed Riley how to make gobos.  Very cool.

Riley has been working hard at school and doing a great job getting himself up and dressed each morning.  We pick out his clothes the night before and then he gets himself dressed when he wakes up.  We set an alarm to play "Let It Go" each morning to wake him.  Because he's been doing such a good job getting ready each morning and getting ready for bed each night he's gotten a lot of Wii time lately. 

We're not all about video games though.  Riley and I also started reading the first Harry Potter book together.  He reads me the chapter titles and then I read a chapter a night to him.  He even asked me to read some after breakfast the other day so I think he's enjoying it.  I really smiled when he told me "I'm picturing it in my head!"

Two weeks ago we ran into our friend Holden at Bluebonnet Bakery for our usual Friday morning donut breakfast.  Great to see old friends!

Chad & I took the boys to the museum a couple of weekends ago and we enjoyed taking them to the planetarium for the first time.

Of course they really enjoyed the children's area with the ambulance and grocery store and also the Wizard of Oz exhibit, but I think the part that made us laugh the most was the slide in the gift shop!  It'd take you out of you weren't careful! (see video below)

 

At the Wizard of Oz exhibit above Carter took all the corn, tomatoes, peppers and potatoes out of their respective places.  At first he had them all lumped in baskets together, but that wasn't organized enough for him so he took a bunch of baskets and gave each basket 1 type of vegetable each.  He also helped the museum worker put everything back in it's place.

He also made some Lego dogs (see below) and he impresses me daily with his Lego creations!

We got fabulous news yesterday about Carter.  He gets to go to PreK at Lily B!  Chad's persistence and getting Carter on the wait list paid off and he has been accepted.  While it will be very bittersweet to leave TLCC, the place that has loved my babies as their own, we are excited to start this next chapter of our lives.  And how nice it will be to walk all the kids to one place!

A week ago on Sunday, Grandmommy picked up the boys for church and afterwards they brought Muzzie lunch to her new home.  They ate in the diner at the senior center and they told me they had fun!

  

This past Friday Keller and Mattie joined us for donut breakfast at Bluebonnet.  We had a great time and I learned that Keller's stomach is a black hole that can never be fully filled!  So different from my boys!

  

On Saturday we went with Nana & Papa to see the GIGANTABUGS at the Fort Worth Zoo.  The weather was perfect and of course we walked to the zoo and back home again.  It was a member event so we got to go in the zoo two hours before it opened to the public.  It was amazing because there were no crowds anywhere and sometimes we were the only people in an exhibit.  They were also offering free carousel rides and train rides all day to zoo members.  Amazing!

  

We attended two birthday parties after the zoo.  The first was Mitchell's at the trampoline park and the second was Wyatt's 2nd birthday at his house.  It was a gnome theme and we all enjoyed getting the kids to wear their home-made gnome hats, courtesy of Taylor!

  

The boys unexpectedly asked for a sleepover at Nana & Papa's so Chad & I went to Magnolia Cheese Company for dinner.  It was amazing.  We got the C&C plank (pictured below) and the dessert trio and EVERYTHING we ate was exceptional.  We sat outside and enjoyed a slight breeze and it was heavenly.

Spring is in the air and we discovered a rose bush on the side of our yard this weekend, with one beautiful pink rose.  Hope this is a sign of many more beautiful memories in our new life.
