On Thursday night we took Katharina and Lucas to dinner at Joe T's and then to Billy Bob's for a Kids Who Care event. It was fun to be with them and to show Lucas Billy Bob's.
On Saturday morning Elizabeth and Zachary came over for breakfast because Kate had to be at work before Jason got off work. I made french toast and all the kids loved it! We then played in the front yard with all the kids. We really tried to get Zachary to walk and then later that night Kate called and said he took 4 steps on his own! Yea!
Saturday night we went to dinner at El Rancho Grande with Kids Who Care. The food wasn't that great, but a bunch of the American and exchange student teenagers had a great time playing with Riley and Carter and it was really fun to watch the boys interact with them. Riley is really coming out of his shell!
On Sunday we went to lunch at Lucile's with Grammy and Nana. Katharina and Lucas LOVED it! I assured them that we would go there again (probably multiple times) before they go back to Germany. Chad had to leave lunch early to go to work and when he left Carter lost it! He has some serious separation anxiety and I could not calm him down. I took him outside and to the bathroom and walked him around and he just sobbed. We ended up having to leave pretty quickly because I was getting dirty looks from other patrons. It was not fun! Of course, 3 hours later, this is what Carter looked like. Just fine, little toot!

Riley also started his 2nd week of swim lesson this week. When he got there his swim teacher, Mrs. Kirk was so surprised at his confidence. She did not expect that from him after last week. He practically jumped right into the water to her. She thought we had a serious talk with him, or had put "Fred the dinosaur" back in jail, but we hadn't! She was very proud of his progress! He is working now on putting his face in the water for 5 seconds. I'm not sure if he'll be swimming by the end of this week, but I think he'll be a little bit closer!
Yesterday Riley started giving Nana the sad act when she tried to take him to daycare after swim lessons, so he ended up getting to go with her to take Grammy to radiation. They discovered that the radiation place has a play area. They also had visited Nana's school after swim lessons and then he played at Grammy's on her organ and with some of Jake's old toys. Riley had a really fun long day, but with no nap, he tuckered out at the end of the day.
