Riley finished off his first week of swim lessons. By Thursday he was over it, so after Nana watched him refuse to do what the teacher asked during his lesson, she took him to the museum, where she bought him a dinosaur toy and then promptly locked it in the truck of her car and told Riley that the dinosaur "Fred", was in jail. The only way Riley could get Fred out of jail was to do everything that the teacher asked at his last swim lesson for the week. She made him shake on it because she told him that's what people do when they make an agreement! :) It worked because on the last day he did pretty much everything that the teacher asked and the teacher told Nana to let Fred out of jail.
Friday after school, TLCC was having a waterslide party for all the kids and parents. We weren't going to go, but when Riley saw the flyer with a picture of a waterslide on it, he insisted we attend. I made homemade brownies to take and Papa joined us since Chad couldn't make it. Riley didn't want to go down the waterslide and I just attributed that to the fact that there were gobs of kids going down it simultaneously and he was overwhelmed, but that night when I kissed his forehead "goodnight" I realized he was running a fever. His voice was a little hoarse also and he said his throat hurt. His fever was 101.2 and so the next morning my parents took him to the doctor because I had a haircut appointment and Chad had to work. Turns out he had croup and they gave him some antibiotics and he seems to be on the mend, but does still have a little cough.
On Sunday Chad's schedule unexpectedly freed up since he quit a job he was working on and so we were all able to meet up with the Loveladys and the Kintighs to go swimming at the TCU pool. It was so much fun and Riley showed us his new swimming skills. He did wear his floatie and use the pool noodle, but you could tell he felt more sure of himself in the water! Afterwards, we went to the Loveladys and picked up Pappasitos for dinner and had a great time.
Katharina and Lucas were due to arrive on Monday, but on Sunday night we found out that their flight got cancelled. This meant that they did not get to celebrate July 4th with us. Chad & I had a lot to do around the house that day and Riley asked to go to Nana & Papa's to play so we took him over there. We picked him up in the early evening to head to Grandmommy & Haha's for dinner. The boys grilled fajitas and after we let the kids do bathtime in the kiddie pool in the front yard before we got them dressed in their jammies to go watch the fireworks. Riley got to hold sparklers for the first time (Thank you Uncle Blake!) and he thought that was so much fun!
