Last week was a week of check ups. Monday started with the boys check ups at the dentist. They went okay. Carter did everything the dentist asked. Laid on the table, let her look in his mouth, stood on the scale. You name it, he did it. Riley on the other hand, had a mind of his own. He did not want to stand on the scale, get xrays, lay on the table, get his teeth cleaned, etc. Eventually, we did get him to lay on the table, but only when she bribed him with a toy! On the way to school afterwards Riley asked if he had gotten his teeth cleaned. I said no and explained that he had not done everything the dentist asked. He started crying and said he wanted to go back right then! I then told him that he wouldn't go back for 6 months and he cried even harder! He cried all the way into school. I felt so bad, but maybe he'll do what the dentist asks next time!
On Friday the boys had their doctor checks ups. For Carter is was his 18 month check up and for Riley it was his 4 year old check up. Chad took them so I don't have a lot of details, except that it was really stressful for Chad and that Riley refused to do the hearing or eye test, so we have to take him back in 6 months for that. Here are their stats:
Carter:
Weight - 28 lbs (75%)
Height - 32 in (45%)
Head - 19.5 in (90%)
He also got two shots
Riley:
Weight - 34.4 lbs (45%)
Height - 40.5 in (50%)
He also got 4 shots, his finger pricked and had to pee in a cup.
In related news, my friend Katy, whose aunt bought my parents' old house in Benbrook, sent me the following picture last week.
It's mine and Jake's growth charts from our old garage wall! Her aunt has not painted over them! It was amazing to look at and I quickly sent it to my mom also!
My mom also compared the boys growth to Jake's. Jake was a good 2 inches taller than each boy at their respective ages, but my sweet Carter weighs more at 18 months that Jake weighed at that age! Boy loves to eat!
The same afternoon that Carter had his doctor appointment I got a call from school that he woke up from his nap with a swollen right under eyelid.
I got worried that it might be an allergic reaction to an immunization, but once I thought to call Chad and email it to him, Chad told me it was just a mosquito bite! Whew!
On Saturday morning we went to Ezra's 4th Birthday Party and had a lot of fun! After that we finally were able to go to Grammy's to deliver her birthday present: a digital picture frame. I think she liked it and it was fun to visit her house on a Saturday morning!
Saturday night Papa went on a ride along with Uncle Todd who is a FW police officer and when Nana dropped Papa off, they took this hilarious photo of her looking fierce in the cop car! Maybe Nana was a cop in a past life?
On Sunday after church, Nana & Papa came over for lunch and then after the boys sort of took naps, Riley convinced Chad to set up the slip n slide in the front yard. We invited Zachary and Elizabeth over and the kids enjoyed playing in the water. Riley and Carter loved going down the slip n slide, but Liz and Zachary preferred to play at the water table.
