A Pre-K Graduate

Last week a shocking thing happened.

Riley graduated from Pre-K.

I cannot believe he is this old already and heading off to Kindergarten in the Fall.  They graduation program was so sweet and oh so perfect!  The kids all performed many pieces that they had memorized over the years.  A few kids got to introduce the pieces.  All of them said "Now we will perform..." and then the name of the next piece.....except Riley.....Riley said "Now we're gonna perform...." and then the name of his piece.  It was close, but he gave his line, his own Riley flair!  He was so well-behaved during the performance.  He knew all his lines, looked forward, kept his hands behind his back.  The ultimate performer. (must be in his genes!!)

They also had a mini-graduation ceremony, where they all wore caps and gowns.  And were called down the aisle to get their rolled up diplomas from their teacher.

It was a precious ceremony and there was a lump in my throat realizing that Riley will soon not attend school at TLCC anymore.  Thankfully, I have 3 more year there with Carter before I have to say goodbye to the sweet little school for good.

The same night as Riley's graduation WHHS held it's annual awards night.  This is where Jake Remembered gives out it's scholarships.  This year Haley and Stephanie did the honors for us and we were lucky to be able to award 4 scholarships this year.

Also at WHHS, the Senior Class has started a Memorial Garden.  The Senior Class Sponsor, who was there when Jake and I were students, emailed my Dad about a memorial brick for Jake.  We happily obliged and my mom went to check out the garden a couple of weeks ago.

Friday was the beginning of a 3-day weekend and we started the weekend off right by getting out the pool.  The boys kept getting out and walking around in the dirt in their water shoes, and by the end the pool water was disgusting!  But at least we all had fun!

The boys continued their swimming fun on Saturday when they spent the night at Nana & Papa's so that Chad & I could attend his opera opening.  Nana got creative and put their slide into the swimming pool.

On Sunday evening, Chad & I had another opera event to attend and so the boys went back to Nana & Papa's for dinner.  For dessert, they helped Papa make cookies.  YUM!

It was a great three day weekend, with lots of relaxing time.  The boys got their haircut and the dogs got their baths and Chad & I continued our new obsession with the TV show Game of Thrones.

Last night Riley had tball practice and it was so HOT outside!  Carter didn't even want to play on the playground while Riley practiced.  He just sat with me on a blanket and played games on my phone.

This week is Riley's last week at TLCC and Carter's last week for the summer.  We sure are going to miss these cute faces this summer!
