Knight Riley - The Green Knight

On Tuesday Riley had his 5 year check up at the doctor.  He weighed 40 lbs (50%) and was 43 1/8 inches (60%).  His BP was 94/50.  His hearing and eyesight were normal and he got his finger pricked and got a nasal flu shot.

 

On Wednesday Riley and Carter had their 6 month dentist check ups with Dr. Ashcroft and they both did great.  We need to helpo Riley brush better, but overall we are doing a great job with both boys.

 

On Wednesday night I took Kate to celebrate her birthday a couple of days early.  We went to Painting With A Twist and painted a piece of art called Peach Blossoms.  It was a lot of fun and we had a great time visiting over wine and snacks while painting.

 

 

Since it was Kate's birthday she got a special birthday surprise.  Our instructor gave her a lovely black paint mustache.  She looked amazing!

 

 

It was cool to see how everyone had their own interpretation of the painting and coloring.  Kate and I eached liked flowers on each others paintings better.  I ended up giving my painting to my mom today.

I've been having a great time taking Riley to kindergarten every day.  On Thursday morning I got to see a lot of the artwork and classwork Riley has done as it was hung on the walls outside his classroom.

 

 

We really like Riley's teacher and I'll be sad when and if they end up hiring a 4th KG teacher as we've already gotten attached to Mrs. Barrett.  Every morning we walk into school together and put Riley's lunchbox and backpack in his cubby and then we take his folder into his classroom and find his seat together.  Riley told me that he was playing with the same girl every day on the playground, but that he couldn't remember her name.  Turns out it was the girl he sits next to in class everyday, Jordan.  I helped them learn each others names.

 

Every Friday is Spirit Day and Riley was super excited about getting to wear a Lily B t-shirt, instead of his uniform.  We also woke up early enough on Friday to go to Bluebonnet Bakery for breakfast.

On Friday's after school Riley's friend Ellie's dad, Justin, picks Ellie and Riley up from school.  Justin took the kids to the zoo after school and from the looks of these photos, they had a great time!

 



 

On Friday night Kate and Jason arranged for us to have an adult night out for Kate's actual birthday.  All four kids spent the night with Grandmommy & Haha.  I think they had as great a time as we did!  Us adults went to Piranha Killer Sushi for dinner, where Jason ordered for everyone and did a great job choosing rolls we never would have picked on our own, but that tasted amazing.  Then we went to GRACE for after dinner drinks.  Meanwhile, the kids had a picnic dinner, followed by play time on the pool table and then baths and a movie before bed.

 

 

 On Saturday morning Chad and I picked up Riley and Carter and took them to the Downtown YMCA, where Chad and I rejoined the gym.  We then took the boys to Child Watch and we went to yoga.  It was great to get to yoga, but we didn't realize that Riley wasn't feeling well.  When we picked him up from Child Watch they told us he fell asleep on the floor and the kids built a castle on him.  That was my first sign something was up with him.....We then went to Jason's Deli to eat and Riley was miserable and we were pretty sure he had a fever.  We got him home, got Tylenol in him and he napped.  When he woke up, he felt better so off we went to Dallas with the Lovelady's for Riley's birthday present: a trip to Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament.  Riley was not sure what to think of it at first and was very nervous.....

The show started and Riley's face tells it all.  HE LOVED IT!  He keeps asking when we can go back.  A friend of Kate and Jason happened to be playing the Blue Knight and he won the tournament and then he came and visited with us after the show.  Super cool!

 

 

After the show Chad bought all the kids wooden swords and Riley a shield also and then the boys had a sleepver at Kate and Jason's.

 

 

Yesterday I picked the boys up while Chad deep cleaned our bedroom in hopes of relieving his allergies.  Then while the boys napped I went to the mall in search of good deals. 

 

Then I took a nap and we relaxed around the house and ordered Pappa Chang for dinner.

 

This morning Nana & Papa came over to play with the boys.  Chad & I headed to the store while they played and then we made lunch for everyone.  We've been cooking a lot from this Cook This, Not That! cookbook and we've really been loving the recipes.  It teaches you how to eat less calories while still enjoying really yummy filling meals.  Today we made grilled teriyaki chicken sandwiches with swiss cheese, pineapple, grilled onions and japelenos.  It was so good!

 

We've also been trying really hard to potty train Carter this weekend, but he is sooooo stubborn!  He was doing great about 2 months ago and he has since started refusing to go.  His teacher at school wants to make a strong push and so we sent underwear and shorts to school Friday to get started.  He peed his pants every time at school.  So far this weekend we've only managed to get him to go in the potty once.  He's pretty strong-willed...just like Riley was.  We're going to give it until the end of the week and see what happens, but I'm not too hopeful at this point....
