Carter has continued to be quite a toot when it comes to bedtime and naptime. Ever since we got back from vacation and he had to go back to sleeping in his bedroom and not upstairs with Riley, he gets out of bed continually every night until eventually he is somehow persuaded to actually go to sleep. Last weekend he would not nap and then ended up in the living room watching some romantic comedy on Netflix with me. He loved it so much he fell asleep. Maybe this should be my new tactic....
The boys spent the night with Grandmommy & Haha last Wednesday and it was Haha's last week to watch Wyatt before Wyatt headed to daycare. We hear Riley really loved being with Wyatt. It sure does look like it!
Saturday night we got to see the Loveladys twice! We met Jason and the kids for breakfast at Bluebonnet Bakery in the morning and we all went to Joe T's for dinner at night. Apparently we were not the only party of 8 at Joe T's as we parked the farthest away we have ever parked and we waited in the longest line we have ever waited in, and then we had the worst service we have ever had there. At least we were with people we love! We probably should have taken it as a sign when we were driving there and we came upon a train stopped dead across the road and we had to do a huge detour to get around and make it to the restaurant. Maybe I should pay more attention to signs like those next time!
Elizabeth requested a last minute sleepover on Saturday night and I was happy to oblige her. Riley did not want her to sleep in his room, but he was so tired after dinner that he went right to bed while the littler ones bathed and by the time Liz wanted to go up there, he was fast asleep. He slept through Chad pulling out the trundle and putting Liz to bed. Carter was more than happy to say yes to having Liz sleep in his bed with him. Little guy just wants a buddy, but Liz wants to be with her big friend, Riley. It will be interesting to watch their dynamics as Riley goes to elementary school.
I was a nervous wreck all weekend about Riley going to school. On Thursday we went to Lily B and met his teacher. Riley was not very excited to meet her and he hid behind me when it was our turn to introduce ourselves. I worried about what that would mean for the actual first day, so we spent a lot of time this weekend talking about school. Last night Riley wanted to eat fish sticks, toast and hot chocolate for dinner and we were happy to oblige him. Chad even made mint chocolate chip milkshakes for dessert.
I actually had nothing to worry about today. I slept horribly. Woke up a lot and was anxious as if it was my own first day of school. Riley was very excited when I woke him up. We had picked out donuts at the store for breakfast and he happily put his uniform on (even the belt!) let me tuck his shirt in and he had his backpack on a full 20 minutes before we left the house.
It poured rain on our drive to school and I was petrified that he was going to be late! But thankfully we made it just in time. We all walked him in and he was a completely different kid than the boy we took to Meet the Teacher. We put his backpack and lunchbox in his locker and then we went in and found his seat. Each kid had a thing of PlayDoh at their seat and he got to work making something and talking to the other kids at his table. He was an old pro at this kindergarten thing!
Chad & I took Carter to a Yahoo/Boohoo Coffee in the Library afterwards and we had a great time visiting with some other parents. We are so excited to officially start this new adventure at Lily B!
