Hey all you softball players and sports fans! My family and some of Jake's friends have started a non-profit organization called Jake Remembered to continue some of the things Jake started when he was still alive.
For the past two years his friends have hosted a benefit softball tournament that was able to help Jake pay some of his medical bills, etc, while he battled cancer and was on long term disability. This year the tournament has turned into a Memorial Tournament and we would like everyone to gather and support this new organization we have started to keep Jake's memory alive.
All funds raised will be used for charity. A scholarship fund will be started at Jake's high school alma mater, Western Hills High School and at least one student each year will be honored with the Jake Cartwright Memorial Scholarship. Depending on how much money we raise in the future we hope to give the scholarship to more students and maybe even extend the scholarship to the two colleges Jake attended. We also plan on giving money each year for cancer research. The group we have chosen to give these funds to at first is Thrivewell Cancer Foundation. This is a group that gives funds to START, which is where Jake went to be a part of a cancer clinical trial that we credit with giving us extra time with him.
