When One Door Closes

Last week was a blur of wrapping things up at my old job and fitting in errands and doctor's appointments before my insurance changes over.

On Tuesday the Kintigh's and Lovelady's invited us to Colby Halloween at TCU. Basically, it is trick or treating in the Colby dorm at TCU. All the walls are decorated and college students hand out candy from their rooms. It is quite an all out ordeal. Riley and Carter donned their costumes again and Elizabeth was dressed as Cyndi Lauper.

We were out pretty late and Carter started to get sleepy, but he did really well!

Afterwards, we had to eat some candy.

And Carter practiced his walking skills.

On Friday the boys' school had their annual costume parade where they go trick or treating to area businesses. I had planned on going, but at the last minute couldn't work it out, so Chad went. Maybe next year I'll actually take time off to go.

They also took a class photo of Carter's class, which I love!

The staff at school was also dressed up, a lot as characters from the Wizard of Oz.

It's a great tradition and we love that the school does this for the kids. Halloween parties were in the afternoon, so there was no shortage of sugar that day.

After school Chad & I picked the boys up and we grabbed a quick bite before heading to church for their last Come As Your Are Friday night service. Riley went straight to the nursery and had a great time because his buddies from school, Jake and Jack were already down there. Carter stayed up with us for most of the service, except for a brief diaper change in the middle. Our favorite pastor, Raul, made a return appearance from his new church and it was so nice to see him and hear him talk for a bit.

On Saturday we had a pretty low-key day. We went out for lunch and headed to grocery shop after. After naps we went to Nana & Papa's for dinner and my dad's friend, Steve made some giant steaks.

On Sunday we had a very exciting day. My dad's boss gave him 3 Cowboys tickets, but my parents had a wedding to go to, so we got to take Riley to the game instead! His first Cowboy game! Our parking pass was close to Ranger stadium so we took a picture next to the World Series sign!

At first Riley thought the game was too loud. As time went on he got used to it though and eventually removed his hands from his ears!

He also requested a GIANT tub of popcorn and we happily obliged:

He started to get delirious after halftime and we knew it was probably time to head out so he could get a nap in (plus the Cowboys were losing something terrible!)

On the way out we let Riley play in a wall of water outside the stadium:

(In case you are wondering, they were handing out the pom poms free at the game) And we had to cross a bridge on the way to the car. We looked in and there were turtles so we stayed and looked at those for a bit before heading on.

After Riley napped we went over to Grandmommy & Haha's (where Carter already was) to trick or treat. The Lovelady's met us there and we all headed out. Riley really got trick or treating this year, but the others were still too young. It was still a lot of fun though. On the way home we went to Nana & Papa's to trick or treat and Carter fell asleep before we got there. It was a great day in all though!

Today I started my new job and of course I had "First Day of School" jitters. Everyone was so nice and I think it will be a great place to work. I have a lot of information to learn and to store in my head so it was a pretty exhausting day, but overall a good one. Now to relax for a bit!
