Pool Parties and Oreo Parties

On Friday we went to TLCC for the last waterslide party of the summer. I usually make brownies, but pumpkin cookies seemed appropriate this time, to welcome in the Fall.  We tried to make them pumpkin chocolate chip, but Carter spilled the measuring cup of chocolate chips all over the kitchen floor so they ended up being plain pumpkin, which was just fine by me.

The weather was not very cooperative and about halfway through the party it was lightning and raining hard.  Luckily, the kids got to slide for about 45 minutes before we all went running for our cars!

There was some wild weather that evening.  It even hailed!  We had our fingers crossed for good weather Saturday morning because Riley and Aiden's joint 5th birthday party was happening at the pool and we didn't want to have to go to an alternate location.

Thankfully, the weather gods were smiling down on us and we had great weather for the party (and it wasn't even too hot outside!)  In fact, the temperature was perfect!

The party was so much fun!  It's our 2nd year in a row to do a joint party with Aiden and we had a great time.  Riley was a lot less scared of the water park this year.  He even went down the frog slide for the first time and we've been having his party here since his 3rd birthday so that's saying a lot!

The party theme this year was jet planes & helicopters for Riley and monster trucks for Aiden.  The cupcakes turned our super cute and both boys had a lot of fun playing with their friends.

But I guess the cupcakes weren't enough because later in the day Carter had his own Oreo party in our bedroom and he didn't think to invite the rest of us!

Riley and Chad have spent the last week getting ready for Riley to start kindergarten.  They picked up Riley's school uniforms (which he is not excited about wearing - except for the cutest red Mr. Rogers cardigan, which he likes because it has a Lily B bee embroidered on it).  We've finished up buying his school supplies and Aunt Kate ordered him a new snake lunchbox for his birthday.  I've taken on the role of the Box Tops Coordinator for the PTA.  Last week I met with the woman who coordinated it last year so she could pass along her wisdom.  Box Tops are the Box Tops For Education that you can find on many retail/food products, such a cereal boxes and Kleenex, etc.  If anyone wants to collect box tops for me and mail them to me for Lily B, I'll take 'em!!

Carter has also returned to daycare and is adjusting back into a routine.  He was having trouble sleeping when we got back from Colorado.  He was getting out of bed numerous times a night.  It's still not perfect, but we're getting there.  Carter also moves to a new class at his daycare tomorrow, so he'll have a few more changes to get used to as well.  It's been interesting to be in the car with just Carter in the mornings.  He's a much quieter soul that Riley and some mornings we just ride along in peaceful silence.  Tonight on the way home he talked more than he ever has, but so softly that sometimes I couldn't make out what he was saying.

I love my sweet boys so much and I look forward to getting used to our new Fall schedules and making new friends at Lily B.
